Get ideas for simple bites everyone will love

By Laura Martin

You don’t have to be a MasterChef to cook delicious and easy tapas to impress your guests. With fresh and simple ingredients you can get tasty bites everyone will love. Keep reading to discover three recipes that not only have great taste, but are also easy to tweak to create your own version.

Ham and cheese rolls

This is one of those recipes that look fancy but are actually very easy to make. Changing these roll fillings is very easy as almost everything you like will work. For our take, you only need 4 ingredients to look like a real chef, so take note and start cooking.

Ready rolled rectangular puff pastry
120gr ham
120gr grated cheese
Ready-made marinara sauce

To start, unfold the puff pastry sheet and spread a thin layer of marinara sauce. You want it to gently flavour these rolls, but you don’t want it to overpower the other ingredients. After that, add a layer of ham and then cover it with grated cheese. Once you’ve done so, roll the puff pastry into a log, cover it with plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes or so.
Then, take it out and remove the plastic. Cut the roll into slices of one centimeter and a half and place them on a baking tray, on top of baking paper, roll side up.
Bake them at 180ºC for about 15 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden and the cheese melted. Let it cool and serve.

Cheesy pesto bites

These are super easy to make, and even easier to eat, as your guests won’t get dirt on their hands. Everyone loves cream cheese and pesto, right? This recipe is sure to be a crowd pleaser and will soon be part of your hosting repertoire! Trust me, I know!

10 slices of sandwich bread, without crust
150gr of cream cheese
80gr salted butter
Ready-made pesto sauce

Take a rolling pin and make sure the bread slices get thin. In a bowl add the cream cheese, the salted butter and two tablespoons of pesto sauce. Feel free to add more or less, depending on how strong you like it.

After that, spread it on top of each bread slice. Then, roll the bread into a tight cylinder and wrap each of them in plastic. Let it rest in the fridge for at least a couple of hours. Finally, cut them into bites and serve them when they reach room temperature.

Caesar Salad Pinwheels

Who doesn’t love a Caesar salad? It is one of the most popular salads in the world! But serving salad at an event can be a bit tiresome. Our version will make salad fun and easy.

Ingredients (serves 12):

Tortilla bread
Grilled chicken (you can buy it ready-made)
Parmesan cheese
Caesar sauce
Optional crunchy onions to add texture

Cut the grilled chicken, the lettuce and the parmesan cheese into small bits and place them in a bowl. Add the crunchy onions if you’d like. Add Caesar sauce to taste. Make sure there is enough to add a nice flavour and texture without being overwhelming. Grab the tortilla bread and spread the mixture. Roll the tortilla and cut some tortilla rings. Serve!
